Catalogues and databases
• The NTL Catalogue – titles of books, magazines (including the historical collection), dissertation theses, articles from Czech magazines and company publications. It allows registered users to reserve book loans through the Internet. Use Electronic Resources to look for electronic magazines
• The STM Catalogue – titles from electronic resources, mostly from databases of magazine articles bought through grants from the Czech Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports as part of a program for research and development. Further information...
• The VPL Catalogue – titles from foreign and Czech magazines from which you can order copies and view on the Internet. In order to use these services it is necessary to sign a user agreement with the STL and send a deposit for the provided services. Further information...
• The database of Czech Technical Norms (ČSN) at NTL – for a norm research it is necessary to come to the study room of norms at the reference center of the STL. The norms are available in both printed and electronic forms. Making copies of norms is allowed and their prices are quoted according to a valid price list of the Czech Norm Institute (ČSNI).
• E-Magazines (SFX) – for searching electronic magazines, including information about availability.
• Electronic resources – a search guide for looking for various (mainly paid) databases of electronic magazines and books.
• Citation Linker – fill in all the information you know about an article, magazine or book into the form and this service will look for its availability in several databases and catalogues.
• ISSN Catalogue – national database of magazines, both printed and electronic, that have been assigned an ISSN (International Standard Serial Number). Further information...
• Historical collection – you will find titles of documents from the historical collection in the NTL Catalogue, the rules for access are listed in the Library Regulations (of the former) STL, section VI, Research Regulations for the STL historical collections. You can find digitized documents from the historical collection in the Kramerius digital library.
• PSH (on-line in the NTL catalogue) – the Polythematic Structured Subject Heading System is a resource for organizing and searching for documents by subject. Further information about PSH.
• Union Catalogue – if you cannot find a document in the NTL Catalogue, look for it in these catalogues and you can request to borrow them through the NTL inter-library loan services. If you are interested in a magazine article, use the VPL services.
• Authority files of the National Library of the Czech Republic – a database of the names of authors and corporations compiled by many libraries in the Czech Republic, including the STL.
