Kramerius Project

There is now an increased worldwide interest in protecting books from the 19th century that were printed largely on acidic paper and whose decomposition, in some documents, is unstoppable.

As part of the National Program for the Microfilm Conversion and Digital Presentation of Documents Endangered by Paper Acidity VISK 7 – Kramerius has, for example, finished reformatting The Chemical Papers for Science and Research (1929-1945 – 17 vol.) and Czech Mechanic (1886-1907 – 22 vol.). In cooperation with the department for the protection of the collection, 16 volumes of documents from the 19th century have been presented for restoration or small repairs.
