Opening hours on weekdays extended to 2 a.m.

Study late at night on the third floor

In response to popular demand that the library be open longer, we're extending our weekday opening hours. Beginning on Monday, October 13, the entire third floor of the library will be open until 2 a.m. (other floors will remain open, as usual, until 10 p.m. during semesters). In addition to comfortable seating, access to Wi-Fi and a quiet place to work, night owls will be able to print/scan/copy and of course use the vending machines for late night snack attacks.

"Up until now, our patrons who wished to continue studying after 10 p.m. had to move to the After Hours Study Room on the ground floor, but space there is limited and when weren't enough seats, we weren't able to provide alternatives. We had to solve this situation to better meet our users' needs. We believe the longer opening hours will particularly assist students preparing for exams," says Sasha Skenderija, Head of NTK's User Support team.

Service desks will be staffed until 8 p.m. in order to facilitate registration and special requests such as retrieving books from underground storage. Weekend hours will not change: On Saturdays, the main library will be open from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. and closed on Sundays, with the After Hours Study Room open whenever the main library is closed.

The National Library of Technology is the only library open to the public with non-stop operations in Prague.
