Hanami 花見 = Flower Viewing

Will the sakuras bloom in time for the traditional charge of serenity and spring cheer?

With the semester in full swing and work in high gear, after three years of intense social events, we pause in time again.

The 9th public Hanami will chill us out throughout the day with background music, delicious food and drink, and more; the night belongs to the ninjas - the evening will be a rave.

The Sakura Alley on the main avenue of the Dejvice campus has been an essential wonder of nature among both the techies and the Catholics for years. Japan is a bit ahead of the curve and has been celebrating the flowering of sakura trees since the 8th century; UCT has been doing so since 1999!

We'll start with lunch. Good food and drinks will be an important part of this year as well, you can look forward to Neko Onigirazu, Kaiser Franz and Mochi goodies. Tea will be available from the student Teahouse Club, and the rest will be provided by the home-grown Carbon Café and the Vektor/Klubovna crew.

DJ Koxoy (Extruder Radio Punctum) will provide a rousing musical kick-off from 12pm, with the saxophone quartet Ty.Tety, guitarist Martin Homola and DJ Trevor Linde (Polygon/Dietl Archie) taking turns in the afternoon.

In the evening, DJ Casablanka (Opak Dissu, Radio Wave) will burst into bloom with a hint of Tokyo nightlife in his (not only) trap mix.

In the side program, you will be able to play the legendary board game Go, see Aikido martial arts demonstration or contemporary Japanese dance Yosakoi!

The event is supported by the Prague 6 Municipality, thank you!
