National Centre for Persistent Identifiers - ISSN, ORCID, DOI

The National Centre for Persistent Identifiers (hereinafter referred to as the PID Centre) operates as a separate department of the National Library of Technology. Its main objective is to provide administrative, coordination, methodological and financial support for the introduction and use of persistent identifiers (PIDs) compatible with European and international standards ((ISSN, ORCID iD, DOI and others).

The PID Centre is composed of expert coordinators who collect and organise knowledge on PIDs and provide methodological support to institutions interested in using PIDs. The PID Centre also serves as a forum for exchange and sharing of experiences with relevant identifiers among the institutions of the country.

National ISSN Centre

The National ISSN Centre (NC ISSN) is one of the 93 national centres that make up the ISSN network. At the request of a publisher or library, it assigns ISSNs to print and electronic newspapers, magazines, scientific journals, conference proceedings, editorial series and other so-called continuing resources published in the Czech Republic. It processes records about them in the national ISSN database and in the international register - ISSN Portal.

ISSN assignment is free of charge.

More about NC ISSN can be found here.

National ORCID Centre

The National ORCID Centre (NC ORCID) is established to support the implementation and effective use of the persistent ORCID iD identifier in the field of research, development and innovation in the Czech Republic.

The services of the NC ORCID are targeted at higher education institutions, research organisations and research funding agencies that integrate ORCID iD into their systems and support the widespread and effective use of this persistent identifier by researchers in the Czech Republic.

More about NC ORCID can be found here.

National DOI Centre

The National DOI Centre (NC DOI) is established to support the implementation and effective use of the DOI (Digital Object Identifier) in research, development and innovation in the Czech Republic. The use of the NC DOI services is open to all higher education institutions, research and other non-profit organisations active in the field of science, research and innovation located in the Czech Republic that produce research data, datasets and other types of outputs to which they assign or plan to assign DOIs as part of their activities.
