Collaborative TECH library initiative launches

11.11.2015, Prague  - The National Library of Technology (NTK), the University of Chemistry and Technology, Prague (UCT Prague), and the Czech Academy of Science’s Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry (IOCB AS CR) have announced the TECH library initiative, which will create the largest publicly accessible collection of chemistry-related literature in the Czech Republic in an information services collaboration among the three partners.

IOCB holdings, including over one thousand specialized publications and seventy professional journals, will added to the NTK shelves and be searchable online via NTK's discovery tools by December 2015.

"We decided to follow the path UCT Prague took two years ago in joining forces with NTK, which has had positive effects. A deciding factor for us has been NTK's reputation for high-quality services," said Zdenek Hostomský, IOCB Director. "We already started using NTK last year during the renovation of our building."

"Establishing TECH, ChemTK's successor, unites collections and services in order to offer the highest quality collection of chemistry-related literature available to students, educators, researchers, professionals, and the general public. I hope this example will attract future collaborations with other science and technology institutions," said Martin Svoboda, NTK Director.

"The past two years have been a positive experience for us. UCT Prague students already perceive the library as a natural part of our institution," said Karel Melzoch, UCT Prague Rector.
